Electrical installation usually regards a certain set of electrical, physical and mechanical equipment, whose main function is to transmit and utilize electrical energy.
In principle, speaking of electrical installations we will take into consideration the low voltage installations, defined BT, while referring to those of medium (MT) and high voltage (AT), we will speak of electrical systems, or electrical networks. This distinction is due to the fact that in these last two cases there is a far more complex instrumentation.
The electrical systems adapted to supply the common housing, in general, have a maximum power which is about 3 kW, and for this it is sufficient to use tools at low voltage, which are perfectly able to meet the normal requirements housewives.

If an electrical system presented malfunctions or failures of any kind (eg overload, short circuit, leakage, etc...) in order to avoid damage to persons or things, equipment that can protect the situation need to be added, as for example :

  • breakers: commonly defined lifesaving;
  • MCBs: also called circuit breakers.

Both of these protections are extremely important, especially to prevent phenomena such as fires, or electric shock of persons in direct contact or in indirect contact with live parts.
